El Paso Nightlife
El Paso Nightlife is as varied as the population itself. With this array of neighborhood taverns, coffee houses, dance clubs, music venues, and hookah bars, there's always something to do--even on a weeknight. Here's a partial (ever expanding) list:
Friday night at the Black Market
Black Market 110 Robinson El Paso, Texas 79902 Black Market is hidden in the alley behind the corner of Mesa and Robinson, behind the Mesa Street Bar and Grill. Black Market has something for everybody: eclectic music, a dance floor, and a patio with an outdoor bar. The staff is friendly, and you can't beat the drink specials ($2 call drinks on Tuesday, $2 rum on Wednesday). (915) 351-1515 Lloyd's 6110 North Mesa El Paso, Texas 79912 Lloyd's is an El Paso bar that's tucked away in a strip mall on the Westside. It's just popular enough to attract an assortment of locals, but not so popular that you can't find a seat. Prices are reasonable, and service is friendly. But there are no servers, so you'll have to place your drink orders at the bar. (915) 581-5793 Cincinnati Bar 207 Cincinnati Avenue El Paso, TX 79902 Cincinnati Bar can get absolutely packed on a weekend night. Its proximity to the University makes it a popular hangout for college students. When the place is that busy, the quality of the service is limited. It is worth a visit to check out their selection of liquor and beer, but I recommend stopping by on a slow night. (915) 532-5592
El Paso Bread and Circus at Zeppelin's
Zeppelin's 111 Robinson El Paso, Texas 79902 Across from Black Market is Zeppelin's. With its excellent selection of beer, it's a hangout that doubles as a live music venue. (512) 947-3066 Club 101 1148 Airway Blvd. El Paso, Texas 79925 The center of El Paso's music scene for years,
Club 101
has been resurrected at a new location on Airway Blvd.. In addition to the Friday Top 40/Hip Hop and Saturday "Retro" themed nights, Club 101 still serves as a venue for touring musical acts. (915) 544-2101 Club Dedo 204 East Rio Grande El Paso, Texas 79902 Whether you prefer to hang in the shadows or get on the dance floor, Dedo is the place to hear the Goth and New Wave music of the 80's. Don't forget to wear black. (915) 533-4684 Sumatra Lounge 916 North Mesa El Paso Texas 79902 The Middle Eastern tradition of Hookah smoking is alive and well at the Sumatra Lounge. A hookah is a communal pipe (everyone gets his or her own sterile mouthpiece) used to smoke a variety of flavored tobaccos. The Sumatra does not serve alcohol, but patrons are invited to bring their own. (915) 543-9900
